Dear Subaru, I would like to submit an idea for a product. As you well know, Crossovers and SUV’s dominate the marketplace right now. I think Subaru has a strong showing for these vehicles, but would like you to consider adding one more.
I know you’re proud of your entry into the 3 row SUV race with the Ascent. But, you know what else is selling like hot cakes? Small Crosssovers like the Ecosport, CX-3, Trax and all the others that are not as important. Subaru, in my opinion does not have a product for this space. The Crosstrek is simply to big for this market.
Therefore, I ask that you create a small AWD Crossover with the Justy nameplate. Yes, I know you sell a rebadged Toyota Tank/Daihatsu Thor in Europe, but it is a POS and we all know it. Plus, Ford is selling ST vehicles in North America that are SUV’s/Crosovers while still offering “true” ST’s in Europe. Why can’t you sell a Justy here that is different? Or better yet, kill of this sad lump of crap:
A strong argument for car euthanasia
Listen, you created the Justy back in the late 80's early 90's with a eCVT because the market demanded small, cheap cars. Well, today the market demands small cheap(ish) Crossovers with CVTs. The time is so right for a triumphant return of this brand and I think that it will actually fit the heritage of the Justy nameplate unlike what Mitsubishi is doing with their legacy nameplates.
If you’ve read this, I hope that you will quickly take action and begin R&D on a small Justy Crossover. I know I’d buy one.

For that to happen, first fuel has to get more expensive and cars need to start being taxed based on their physical size to make smaller cars more appealing financially.
And that’s just in Canada. For the USA, they have to that AND change CAFE by getting rid of the footprint rule that has lower standards for larger vehicles and treat cars and trucks the same.. with only class 6 and higher trucks being treated differently.

I dunno, like I said in my post above, the Ecosport, CX-3, Trax and the rest sell pretty well. I want Subaru to build a small crossover and call it a Justy.
This came about because I was helping some family with buying a car recently. They wanted a Crosstrek, but gave serious thought to a CX-3 like mine due to the size difference. If Subaru would build a smaller Crossover, they’d bring in a lot more buyers I think.
I personally chose a CX-3 over a Crosstrek for the same reasons as above.

After Subaru stopped selling that Justy over here, it took them 25 years to make another car with as good mileage as it.
Perhaps they need to offer FWD models, again. The 1.6L FWD Impreza offered in Japan is a good step in the right direction. And of course, bringing back the Justy is a good idea, too.

You want to know what really hurts? This Justy, much like the other Daihatsu based Justy probably isn’t available with 4WD, even though Daihatsu will happily sell a Boon/Thor with AWD.

And an I3. It really does bring the Justy nameplate back to it’s roots, doesn’t it?
I doubt Toyota would be willing to sell something like this in the US, but if Daihatsu and Subaru could get it to pass US emissions and safety regulations, a 4WD only Justy could fit pretty decently in Subaru’s North American lineup, but they’d probably have to put a little turbo on it so it would have more power under the hood than a Mirage.
